Challenge
A new president of a small liberal arts college wanted to better understand the experiences of their students to inform campus planning.
Approach
Working with a small team to gain context of the current student experience, I planned the arc of research engagements and managed an in-depth study of the current student experience (including intercept interviews, focus groups, visioning workshops with students and faculty, and benchmarking research). To share findings with the client and get their feedback, I created a user research summary report to convey the primary components of the current user experience and areas of opportunity for improvement.
Solution
After validating and prioritizing areas of opportunity with the client, I worked with my team to iteratively develop a vision for the ideal future student experience, highlighting the needs raised by students through user research. To support the college president and her team in enacting the vision, we co-created a series of strategies (related to college spaces, services, communications, policies, and programs) that could be piloted on campus with existing resources.
